Mel Gibson's Child Custody Battle

Mel Gibson can officially be added to the list of Hollywood actors involved in a child custody dispute. Associated Press reports that family lawyers for Mel Gibson and his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva met in a closed session with a judge earlier this month to handle their child custody case.

As it turns out, neither Mel Gibson nor the ex-girlfriend Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva were present at the child custody hearing and are leaving the child custody case to be completely handled by their family lawyers. The couple split up in April and entered into a confidential agreement one month after their split.

Recently, there have been rumors that Mel Gibson was abusive toward his former girlfriend and that he threatened to kill the woman who is the mother of his 8-month-old daughter Lucia. If these rumors are found to be true by the courts, then the actor could face criminal charges and will probably have a difficult time obtaining custody of his young daughter.

New York Daily News provides a transcript of the words Mel Gibson allegedly said to his girlfriend that she recorded without his knowledge. Many Texas family law attorneys would agree that the things he allegedly said are quite offensive.

Both Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva filed restraining orders against each other last month. Police officers in Southern California are investigating their domestic dispute.

Texas family law attorneys can handle any type of child custody case, no matter how dramatic or complex the case is. Family law attorneys can also assist with the filing for a protective order, if there's been a history of abuse within a relationship.
