Todd Jackson Arrested and Charged With Interference With Child Custody

A Houston man is facing some serious criminal charges for alleged interference with child custody, but what's worse is that he may have trouble ever being able to see his son again. The Huntsville Item reported that 32-year-old Todd Jackson was arrested last week after authorities suspected the man of taking his non-custodial son away from his mother in the town of Huntsville.

Family members were able to contact the child on a cell phone after he had been reported as a missing person. Detectives were then able to determine that the child was located in Houston from the phone call, so authorities in Huntsville called Houston police officers for collaboration on the case.

Detectives say that they were eventually able to speak to the non-custodial father Todd Jackson to bring the son back to his mother. After returning the child to the boy's mother, Houston police officers arrested Todd Jackson. The father is now limited to only supervised visits with his son.

It's never a good idea to violate a court order, even if you think violating the order is in the child's best interest. A parent who wants to change a child custody agreement that has already been put in place by the courts should contact a Houston family law attorney to go about taking such action. FindLaw states that courts will usually approve child custody modification agreements unless it appears that they are not in the best interest of the child. However, it can be difficult for a parent to gain child custody if he or she has violated a previous child custody agreement.
