Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Fight Over Child Support

| No TrackBacks

Levi Johnston is perhaps the most famous accidental father in America. The New York Post reports that the 19-year-old stands out as the father of Bristol Palin's son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, who was born in December 2008 when Bristol was just 17 years old. The couple announced that they were planning to get married when Bristol's mother, Sarah Palin, was in the running for vice president, however that plan ended in March 2009 when the couple split apart.

Yet the feud betweeen Ms. Palin and Mr. Johnston still continues, and this time it's over child support. New York Daily News reports that courts have forced Mr. Johnston to pay more than $21,000 in back child support payments, and $1,750 monthly support payments.

Mr. Johnston's family law attorney, Rex Butler, says that him and his client plan to go back to court and contest the child support order. The young man was originally ordered to pay only $18,000 in back child support payments, but then the judge ordered that the amount be increased to $21,561.12. There's still much debate between Mr. Johnston and Ms. Palin about how much money Levi is actually making.

Meanwhile, Bristol Palin has also filed a legal petition seeking sole custody of their son Tripp, asking for primary custody with visitation rights for Mr. Johnston. The New York Post states that Bristol has become an advocate for abstinance and speaks out against teen pregnancy. She also gives hope for single mothers around the country, who are seeking child support for their children. There are plenty of Texas family law attorneys in the Lone Star state that help parents get child support payments from their former partner. See FindLaw's directory for a list of local attorneys.
